The National Swimming Pool Foundation (NSPF) is running an amazing campaign called “Step into Swim”. The goal of this campaign is to directly create one million MORE swimmers with their program within the next ten years.

This ten year initiative is geared to help people live healthier lives through aquatics. Swimming improves people’s overall health, reduces accidents and deaths related to drowning and offers a fun, fit activity for individuals and families.

From the National Swimming Pool Foundation:

Drowning remains the second leading cause of unintentional injury and death in children ages 1 to 19 years […] The gift of swimming opens the door to a spectrum of aquatic activities, beginning in childhood and extending through life. Thanks to the vision of the NSPF Board of Directors and the generosity of members and donors, the campaign has given the gift of swimming lessons to thousands of children through its partner organizations.

This campaign was organized in 2012 by non-profit 501(C)(3) National Swimming Pool Foundation and the campaign raises funds that are directly given to leading learn-to-swim organizations. These organizations include: Angels of America’s Fallen, local YMCAs, the Jewish Community Center, Swim Today and so many more.

This campaign has gained a lot of popularity and traction. People agree across the board that increased activity through swimming, as well as learning to swim for safety, are absolutely beneficial. This is an investment into the next generation of swimmers for fun, fitness, and for safety that we absolutely support and endorse.
