Have a home pool? Maybe you’re visiting someone who does.  Pool safety and pool maintenance are necessities as pool owners and pool visitors.  It can never hurt to be well informed and to learn a few tips about keeping your pool clean and your interaction a safe one.  There are several resources that you can find to teach yourself a little more about pool safety and pool maintenance.  You just have to find the right one.

Pool owners and pool visitors may want to use the National Swimming Pool Foundation’s (NSPF) online learning course.  This online learning course, called Home Pool Essentials (HPE), is designed to keep backyard pool use safer and to help reduce the number of drowning.  Backyard pools can be an amazing experience; it’ just important to be safe.

This two-hour course is designed to inform people of the correct way to maintain their backyard pools and how to keep the pool area safe for all swimmers.  If you’ve recently had a pool put in, bought a house with a pool, or are interested in owning one, you should definitely give this online course a chance.

The focus is on preventing pool accidents, responding to aquatic emergencies, maintaining your pool/spa, and information on proper chemical balances.  Another great tool that this course offers is a 30 page reference guide for owners. This is a great resource to use and check back to.

Also, in the long run, owners who have a good understanding of safety and maintenance will save time and money.  This is a great course for pool owners, parents, and anyone who frequents backyard pools.  Summer is almost here! Pool season will be in full swing soon enough.  For those of you that are in Southern California, like us, you are probably already getting great use out of your backyard pool.

Interested in the course? You can find more information about it HERE.

Regardless of which course you choose, make sure you are being safe, responsible, and having fun!
